Abstract

English is one of subjects in school that have to be studied by the students. In learning English, the students have four skills to be mastered, such as, writing, reading, speaking, and listening. One thing that important to develop those skills is speaking. To make easier in learning speaking skills is using media. One the appropriate media in learning speaking skills is watching movies. By watching movies, the students can improve their vocabulary, know the meaning, and also the pronunciation from the native speakers in movie. The aim of this study was to know the students’ perception towards the use of movies in improving speaking skills. This study belonged to the descriptive qualitative design. The participants of this research were the fourth semester students of English Language Education major in academic year 2020/2021 in MCCU. To select the sample, this study used the purposive sampling technique. To collect the data, a questionnaire with 15 items was distributed. The result showed that the participants agreed that movies give benefits to improve the students speaking skills.
