Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the differences in students academic achievement in terms of permissive and authoritarian parenting patterns. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a difference in student academic achievement between permissive and authoritarian parenting. Respondents to the study were male and female students, aged about 12-14 years involving 113 students. The data obtained were analyzed using the mean whitney test analysis. The results of this study show that authoritarian parenting has a more positive impact on student academic achievement than permissive parenting, as evidenced by the mean rank score in the Mann Whitney test on authoritarian parenting of 132.02 and a smaller score on permissive parenting of 94.98, which means that the higher the level of authoritarian parenting applied by parents, the higher the academic achievement in students. The difference in academic achievement between permissive and authoritarian parenting can be seen with Asymp's grades. Sig (2 tailed) 0.000 where P<0.05.
