Abstract

Background : Caearean section (SC) surgery is a medical procedure performed by tearing the abdominal wall. In surgery, anxiety often occurs in patients who will be operated on. Anxiety can be caused by various things, one of which is the patient’s anxiety about the pain that will accur after surgery. Research Objectives : This study aims to determine the relationship of pre-operative anxiety with post-operative pain in mothers sectio caesarea mother in the hospital Myria City of Palembang. Method : This study uses quantitative method using analytical methods with cross sectional design. The number of sample consists of 55 respondents. With the proposive sampling method. The statistical test used is the Kendall Tau test. Result: The majority of respondents are 20-30 years old (36 respondents = 65.5%); the majority of respondents had a history of SC for the first time (35 respondents = 63.6%); mayor over respondents who experience high pre-operative anxiety (51 = 92.7%); while the majority of respondents experienced severe post-operative pain (32 = 58.2%). The Kendal's Tau test results obtained p value 0.015 which showed that there was a significant relationship between preoperative anxiety and postoperative pain in Caesarean section with, obtained r count 0.330 which showed a weak degree of closeness between the independent and dependent variables, while the direction showed toward positive so that the higher the pre-operative anxiety, the more post-operative pain is felt. Suggestion : It is expected that nurses can improve information regarding the relationship of pre-operative anxiety with postoperative pain and how to overcome or reduce pain that is felt both pre-surgery or post-operative SC.
