Abstract
Background: The increase in the prevalence of diabetes mellitus is closely related to lifestyle changes such as an unhealthy diet high in sugar, fat, and salt, lack of physical activity, obesity, sedentary behavior due to excessive use of gadgets, and prolonged stress. These factors are the main triggers for insulin resistance and increased blood glucose. Stress in diabetic patients can lead to increased blood glucose or hyperglycemia. Stress among people with diabetes can be caused by many factors. Uncontrolled chronic hyperglycemia accompanied by a long duration of DM increases the risk of complications. As a nonpharmacological hyperglycemia management effort, autogenic relaxation is often referred to as Self-Hypnosis which is a self-directed technique to lower stress through the integration of visual imagination and body awareness. Objective: Apply Autogenic Therapy to Reduce Blood Glucose Levels in Patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus in Palembang City Methods: Case study, conducted 2 times a day within 3 days on 3 respondents. Results: All sessions showed average values decreased in the range of 1 to 9 mg/dl, meaning that GDS post was always lower than pre. The largest difference occurred at R3 day 3 afternoon sessions 51 mg/dl, R2 day 2 morning 18 mg/dl, R1 day 3 morning 17 mg/dl. Conclusions: There was a decrease in GDS in all respondents after being given the autogenic relaxation technique after 3 days of application Keywords: Autogenic, Diabetes Mellitus, Hyperglycemia
