Abstract
Background: hypertension is a global health issue and major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. This condition requires lifelong medication. In addition to pharmacological therapy, a healthy lifestyle and non-pharmacological interventions are essential to help prevent complication. One such intervention is warm water foot soak therapy, which has a vasodilatory effect that lower blood pressure. Purpose: To describe nursing care for hypertensive patients. Focusing on the application of warm water foot soaks to reducing blood pressure in an inpatient setting. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with case study approach through nursing process involving three respondents diagnosed hypertension. The intervention consider of 15 minutes at the temperature of 39-40 oC, performed once daily for three consecutive days. The instruments used were a digital sphygmomanometer and an observation sheet. Blood pressure measurements were taken before and after each intervention Results: After three days of therapy sessions 15 minutes, there was an average decrease in blood pressure across three respondents with systolic reduction 6,6 mmHg and diastolic reduction of 2,3 mmHg. Respondents reported a feeling lighter, and they felt more relaxed and calm Conclusion: Warm water foot soak therapy can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention in nursing care for hypertensive patients to assist in blood pressure reduction Suggestion: Warm foot soak therapy recommended as non-pharmacological treatment to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This therapy can be implemented by both nurses and family members, as it easy to perform, safe and cost-effective
