Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between body image and self-confidence with consumptive behavior toward health supplements among adolescent gym members. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational approach involving 100 respondents who were active gym members in Palembang City, aged 18–35 years, and consumed gym supplements, selected using accidental sampling techniques. Data were collected using a body image scale, a self-confidence scale, and a consumptive behavior scale based on the Likert scale, and analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The results indicated that there was a significant relationship between body image and consumptive behavior, a significant relationship between self-confidence and consumptive behavior, and a significant simultaneous relationship between body image and self-confidence with consumptive behavior. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.875 indicates that body image and self-confidence jointly contribute 87.5% to consumptive behavior, while the remaining 12.9% is influenced by other factors outside this study.
