Abstract

Background: Untreated decline in chronic kidney function (CKD) can worsen the patient's condition to the point of death with symptoms such as hypertension, nausea, vomiting, and gastritis, so the management includes hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation. One of the common complications during hemodialysis is hypertension. Benson's relaxation therapy, which relies on breathing techniques and positive word repetition, has the potential to lower blood pressure.Purpose: Knowing changes in blood pressure before and after giving Benson relaxation therapy in patients undergoing hemodialysis.Methods: Quantitative research with a pre-experimental design of a one-shot case study approach. The population was 24 respondents with a sample of 3 respondents.Results: There were changes in blood pressure before and after being given Benson relaxation therapy 3 times within 10 minutes of each treatment. There was a decrease in the value of systolic blood pressure, the difference between the highest decrease was 18 and the lowest decrease was 2, while the value of diastolic blood pressure was obtained with the highest difference of 20 and the lowest decrease was 1.Conclusion: There were changes in blood pressure before and after Benson relaxation therapy was given in patients undergoing hemodialysis.Suggestion:Patients undergoing hemodialysis may apply Benson relaxation therapy to control blood pressure.
