Abstract

Background : The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is very important to use when working in a hospital. The use of PPE is a must for nurses when providing interventions to patients in the inpatient room. PPE used in accordance with SOPs serves to prevent the risk of disease transmission when doing work in hospitals, where if nurses do not use PPE it will result in the spread of infection being uncontrolled. Objective : This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with the behavior of nurses in using personal protective equipment in the ward stay during the covid-19 pandemic Methods : This research method uses an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach, with a population of 41 respondents, with a total sampling technique of 41 respondents. Data collection using a questionnaire of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of personal protective equipment by nurses in inpatient rooms during the Covid-19 pandemic with an Analytical Survey research design with a Cross- Sectional approach and using the Kendall tau test. Results : The results of this study showed that most of the respondents aged 35 years were 24 nurses (58.5), gender with the majority of women being 34 nurses (82.9), working years > 10 years 29 respondents (70.7), education level the most D3 nurses were 29 nurses (70.7), the results were 23 nurses (56.1) good knowledge, while 22 nurses (53.7) showed good attitudes, and 19 nurses (46.3) showed sufficient behavior. Suggestion : Researchers suggest nurses to continue to use PPE not only during the Covid-19 pandemic but still use PPE when taking action against other patients.
