Abstract

Garbage is one of the common problems faced in big cities in Indonesia, including the city of Palembang. In this case study, Musi Charitas Catholic University is an university in the city of Palembang which has a lot of trash cans, but sometimes garbage accumulation occurs due to the trash box area being slightly out of reach so that the cleaning staffs don't see the stacking. In this study, an IoT-based smart dustbin system was built, implemented on a smart campus with the aim of making it easier for cleaners to control the stacking garbage especially in Musi Charitas Catholic University. This smart dustbin is based on the Arduino microcontroller and NodeMCU ESP8266 and is equipped with several other sensors such as ultrasonic sensors and weight sensors. The results of this study are an IoT smart dustbin product with an android-based monitoring system that is used to implement a smart campus at the Musi Charitas Catholic University.
