Abstract

The first Covid-19 case in Indonesia was announced on March 2nd 2020. Since the PSBB was implemented, the demand for drugs and vitamins has experienced a significant spike so that the pharmaceutical industry has gained considerable growth. The purpose of this study is to see the difference in stock returns and trading volume of shares of pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the pandemic compared to before the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The population in this study were 11 pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling method and obtained 9 samples. The data analysis method used was the Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results obtained based on the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test obtained: (a) There is a significant difference in stock returns of pharmaceutical companies during the Covid-19 pandemic compared to before the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. (b) There is a significant difference in the trading volume of pharmaceutical companies' shares during the Covid-19 pandemic compared to before the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
