Abstract

Background: The incidence of hypertension globally and nationally has increased from 31.7% in 2007 to 25.8% in 2013 and 34.1% in 2018.The Brazilian Study of Cardiovascular Risks in Adolescents (ERICA) recorded the prevalence of hypertension adolescents in Brazil aged 12-17 years amounted to 9.6%. The prevalence of adolescent incidence of hypertension in adolescents was also found in Indonesia in 2013, it was found that the prevalence of hypertension was limited to the age of 15-17 years nationally by 5.3% (male 6.0% and female 4.7%). In South Sumatra the number of hypertension sufferers also increased in 2016 by 225.302, in 2017 as many as 229.365 and in 2018 as many as 1.130.254 hypertension sufferers. Purpose: This study aims to determine the description of early prevention efforts of hypertension in high school adolescents in Palembang City. Methods: This type of research is quantitative with a population of 144 respondents, and a sample of 106 respondents was taken by purposive sampling technique. Results: The results of this research showed that the average age of the respondents was 15,64. Male respondents were 55 respondents (51.9%). Respondents with no hereditary history were 64 respondents (63.2%). Respondents with physical activity with low frequency were 50 respondents (47.2%) and for the results of physical activity with low duration were 64 respondents (60.4%). Respondents with BMI (body mass index) obtained normal BMI (body mass index) as many as 94 respondents (88.7%). Respondents who do not smoke are more than 72 respondents (67.9%).
