Abstract
ABSTRACT Speaking achievement is the most common measurement aspect to distinguish non�native speakers whether they are beginner, intermediate, or advance in English. This study was aimed to find out the significant improvement on speaking achievement by using films as learning media. Twenty four rhetorica students were involved as the sample of this study. They were divided into the experimental and control groups by the stratified random sampling technique. The data were collected by speaking test by using Brown’s rubric. Paired t-test and independent t-test were used to analyze the data and obtain the result. The result implied that there was significant improvement of students’ speaking achievement in both experimental and control group. In addition, insignificant result was found out on students’ speaking achievement between two groups. Keywords: Speaking achievement, film, media, rhetorica
