Abstract

PT Tunas Baru Lampung, Tbk Palembang branch is an industry that produces cooking oil from crude palm oil (CPO). In the cooking oil processing process, the function and role of heat transfer equipment is a process that is widely used, one of which is the Sealtube Heat Exchanger 881X which is used in the Heat Recovery Unit at the Refiner Plant PT Tunas Baru Lampung, Tbk Palembang branch. Based on the results of observational data during practical work, there were 2 obstacles that occurred. The obstacle that occurs at PT Tunas Baru Lampung, Tbk Palembang branch is the fouling factor. The calculation in this report uses the Kern method to find the actual fouling factor to be compared with the design fouling factor data. The result of this calculation is that the actual fouling factor is higher than the design fouling factor. This will result in a decrease in temperature, the flow of RBDPO is hampered due to the presence of scale on the shell and the quality of RBDPO will decrease. For this reason, it is necessary to clean the crust attached to the shell and tube and check regularly every week so that the heat transfer process can take place optimally without any impurities.
