Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of parents in accompanying their children in the learning process during distance learning. Distance learning activities focus on teaching and learning activities carried out by teachers and students remotely. Therefore, direct parental assistance is needed for students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with the research subject is parents of 3rd-grade students of SD Indriasana. This study uses triangulation analysis methods in the form of observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The subjects of this study were 23 people. Of the 23 subjects, only 15 parents were selected and willing to be interviewed. From the statements of 15 interviewees, it shows that 86.7% of students learn to be accompanied by their parents, especially mothers. The form of mentoring that parents do is to help with problems/tasks, help explain the material, correct children's assignments before they are collected, and accompany children to study. During distance learning, parents experience many obstacles such as limited time for mentoring, inability to explain due to lack of understanding of the material, and difficulty in directing children to focus on learning. The parent suggests that it is necessary for parents must be able to explain the material to children and the teacher's explanation in distance learning should be more detailed with examples.
