Abstract

Cholesterol is a component of fat or lipid substances. Cholesterol examination should be carried out no more than 2 hours after taking blood specimens, this is to avoid changes in dissolved substances and other influences. Objective: To determine the difference in cholesterol that was immediately examined and delayed for 2.5 hours. Methods: The type of research used is pre-experimental, the research design is observation carried out 2 times before the experiment and after the experiment. The test conducted before the experiment is called the pre-test and the test after the experiment is called the post-test. Results: The results of the examination of cholesterol levels using the CHOD-PAP method from serum directly examined and centrifuged, namely the Median value of 243, minimum 201 and maximum 510. The sample was delayed by 2.5 hours, i.e. Median value 268, minimum 201 and maximum 571. There is a difference data from direct examination samples and delayed for 2.5 hours Conclusion: Cholesterol level examination which was immediately checked and postponed for 2.5 hours with a value of 0.000 is less than <0.05, then the 'Hypothesis is accepted', meaning that there is a difference between cholesterol that is immediately checked and delayed for 2.5 hours. Suggestion: Cholesterol examination should be a maximum of 2 hours, this is to prevent changes in substances contained in serum, and sample contamination
