Abstract

Traditional food is part of the culture that is owned by a certain area. Pempek is a traditional food originating from the city of Palembang to be dubbed the city of pempek. This study aims to determine the study of ethnomathematics contained in traditional food Pempek Palembang as a source of learning mathematics. The subjects of this study were the owners/managers, employees and buyers of three pempek shops which had been previously determined by the researcher. The research method used is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques using data analysis techniques Miles and Huberman. Based on field observations, several types of traditional Pempek Palembang foods were obtained, namely pempek lenjer, adaan, egg, tofu, curly, skin, pistel, grilled, submarine and lenggang. The results of this study explain that the traditional Palembang pempek food has mathematical concepts, namely 1) geometrically there are rectangles, circles, blocks, tubes and spheres, 2) comparisons of weight measurements and 3) social arithmetic on the selling price of pempek. From the three results, it can be used as a source of learning mathematics Keywords: Ethnomathematics, Pempek Palembang, sources of learning mathematics.
