Abstract
Background: The blood lead content in people who use Musi river water for daily needs has a higher potential for lead contamination than people who live in urban areas and do not use Musi river water directly. This study aims to determine whether it is true that people who use Musi River water have a higher potential for lead exposure and is there a relationship with hemoglobin levels in the blood. Method : Observational research is also called non-experimental research. The sample is people who live along the Musi river and still use river water for their daily needs. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, the total population was 59 samples and the samples that entered the inclusion and exclusion criteria were 17 samples. This research was conducted on June 17, 2021 at the Palembang Health Laboratory Center, but before the lead sample and hemoglobin sample were examined, a method verification must be carried out first, after being declared good, the lead test was carried out using ICP and for hemoglobin using hematology analyzer tool. Result : The total number of lead samples was still in normal levels and there were 7 people with low hemoglobin levels. The results of the normality test showed that the data were normally distributed, so Pearson's parametric test was performed which showed no significant relationship between blood lead levels and blood hemoglobin levels with = 0.452 (ρ> 0.05) Conclusion : Based on this research, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between blood lead levels with hemoglobin levels in the blood and lead levels in the coastal area of the Musi River, precisely in Kampung Kapitan RT.52 Rw. 11 is still within normal limits. Suggestion : Further researchers can conduct research on differences in hemoglobin levels using the sysmex XS 800i and sysmex XN 1000 tools. Keywords:Lead, Hemoglobin, Coastal inhabitants, Musi River
