Abstract

Background : Anemia is a condition of reduced hemoglobin levels of less than 12 g/dL during pregnancy or the puerperium. Iron is an important element in the formation of red blood cells in pregnant women. Lack of nutrients can cause pregnant women to hve lack of hemoglobin (HB). Knowledge of pregnant women about iron supplements is one of the factors related to compliance with taking iron supplements. Research Objectives: To know the description of knowledge of pregnant women about the benefits of iron at BPS "L" Talang Kelapa Palembang. Methods : This research is a quantitative research with a descriptive survey approach. The sample in this study was 40 respondents with accidental sampling technique Results : The results of this study obtained respondents who have good knowledge about the benefits of iron supplements, namely 15 (37.5%), have sufficient knowledge about the benefits of iron supplements, namely 13 (32.5%), and have less knowledge about the benefits of iron supplements, namely 12 (30%). Suggestion : Pregnant women for expected to be more obedient to consuming Fe tablets.
