Abstract

Background : Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious lung disease caused by a coronavirus. COVID 19 can spread quickly and is deadly so that the health protocol must be implemented, including wearing a mask, washing hands, keeping distance, reducing mobility, and avoiding crowds. The implementation of health protocol is correlated to an individual’s knowledge about the health protocol so that he/she can implement it properly. Purpose : This research aims to investigate the correlation between the knowledge and the implementation of health protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic among the students of the Faculty of Health Science of Musi Charitas Catholic University. Method : The research was quantitative research employing an analytical survey method with a cross-sectional approach. The instrument was a questionnaire. The employed sampling technique was a total sampling with 53 respondents. The data analysis technique alternatively used Kendall’s Tau test. Result : The research result showed that 43 respondents (84,3%) were female, 19 respondents (37,3) were 19 years old, 49 respondents (96,1) were sufficiently knowledgeable about the health protocol, 26 respondents (51,0%) did not fully implement the health protocol appropriately. The result of Kendall’s Tau test showed that there was no correlation between the knowledge and the implementation of health protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a p-value of 0,161. Suggestion : Based on the result of this research, it is expected that sufficient knowledge must be maintained and implemented in the health protocol. Keywords : knowledge, implementation of health protocol
