Abstract

Background: Covid-19 is becoming a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Before vaccines and medicine are widely available, it is important to implement mitigation, as an effort to decrease the risk of a disaster. Mitigation is implemented as an effort to reduce the transmission of the disease and the increase of Covid-19 case, in which mitigation is influenced by knowledge, behavior, and motivation of the millennial generation. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the correlation between knowledge, behavior, and motivation toward the implementation of Covid-19 mitigation to the millennial generation in the Faculty of Health Science of Musi Charitas Catholic University. Method: The research design was an analytical survey with cross-sectional approaches, involving 294 respondents selected through a total sampling. The data-gathering technique was conducted by using a questionnaire. Then, both univariate analysis and bivariate analysis were conducted, as well as Kendall’s Tau test by using the significance value of 5%. Result: The result of the univariate analysis showed that the majority of the respondents was female with the number of 252 respondents (85,7%), the median of the respondents with the age of 20, the numbers of respondents with sufficient knowledge were 283 (96,3%), the numbers of respondents with positive behavior were 206 (70,1%), and the numbers of respondents with average motivation were 189 (64,3%), and the numbers of lacking mitigation implementation were 205 respondents (69,7). The result of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between knowledge (τ= 0,130; p= 0,026) and behaviour (τ= 0,350; p= 0,001) with the implementation of Covid-19 mitigation, but there was no significant correlation between motivation (τ= 0,085; p= 0,140) and the implementation of Covid-19 mitigation. Suggestion: It is suggested that the institution provides the facility and infrastructure to develop positive behavior among the millennial generation and strengthen the rules implemented in the Covid-19 mitigation, so the students will not ignore the existing rules and finally develop their motivation in implementing Covid-19 mitigation.
