Abstract

Background: Covid-19 is a virus that is causing a worldwide pandemic and has infected millions of people. This virus can be transmitted from one infected person to another through droplets from the nose and mouth, when the infected person is coughing, talking, or sneezing. The first emotional experiences of the survivors when they were diagnosed as being a positive “covid-19” patient were the feelings of sadness, shock, and afraid. Because of that, families and close friends must support the Covid-19 survivors to keep up their spirit and to think positively so it can help the recovery process. Purpose: This research aims to conduct an in-depth exploration and investigation of the experiences of recovered Covid-19 survivors in Palembang city. Method: This research used the qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The data was gathered through an in-depth interview with the 5 participants who met the inclusion criteria. This research used the Colaizzi data analysis technique. The sampling technique in this research was purposive sampling. Result: The research results generated nine themes, namely: 1) the feelings experienced by the survivors after being diagnosed as a positive “Covid-19” patient, 2) the signs and symptoms experienced by the survivors when they were positive “Covid-19” patients, 3) the testimony of the survivors after experiencing a self-isolation, 4) the supports given by families and close friends when they knew that the survivors were diagnosed as a positive “Covid-19” patient, 5) the difficulties experienced by the survivors when they were suffering from Covid-19, 6) the efforts done by the survivors to recover from Covid-19, 7) the feelings experienced by the survivors after being declared cured of Covid-19, 8) the health problems experienced by the survivors after recovering from Covid-19, 9) the survivors’ hope after recovering from Covid-19. Suggestion: Based on the research results, it is expected that the survivors of Covid-19 who have recovered can learn a lesson from the experience of suffering from Covid-19 so that they can be more cautious and obey the health protocol from now on.
