Abstract

House or dweling is one of the factors that affect the physical and spiritual quality of individual whose living in it. Many of us still live in slums and have an uninhabitable home. The factors associated with Community who lives in slum ae are the knowledge and attitudes Purpose: This is to find out the difference of the knowledge and attitudes in the community regarding the standard of healthy housing between those living in moderate slums and severe slums Method: This study used a comparative method of 134 respondents who were taken purposively with data analysis using the Mann-Whitney U test. Result: Univariate analysis shows the result, respondents living in moderate slum areas mostly have good knowledge, namely as many as 52 respondents (77.6%) and severe slum respondents also have good knowledge, namely as many as 40 respondents (59%). Respondents who live in moderate and severe slum settlements all have good attitudes, as many as 67 respondents (100%) have good attitudes. The bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant difference between people's knowledge about the standard of healthy housing living in moderate slum settlements and those living in severe slums (p = 0.026). There is no difference between community attitudes about the standard of healthy housing living in moderate slum areas and those living in severe slums (p = 1,000). Suggestion: It is hoped that further researchers can examine other variables which are the main factors that can affect the condition of healthy houses in slum settlements.
