Abstract
CV Arwana Mas is a power tool trading company that has a workshop for producing electrical panels. The Production Division has a sub-division, namely the assembly of components with the contents of the electric panel which has a total of 8 workers. Assembly workers experience symptoms of fatigue such as feelings of lethargy, sleepiness, lack of alertness, and lack of enthusiasm due to uncomfortable environmental conditions, both noise and time pressure. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate mental workload then analyze the root of the problem and provide solutions to reduce the level of the load. The research was conducted by collecting data using the NASA-TLX questionnaire method based on 6 factors, namely physical, mental, temporal, own performance, frustration, and effort, then calculating the accumulated mental workload using the weighted workload (WWL) method then analyzing the root of the problem using a fishbone diagram. The amount of mental workload of the eight workers is categorized as high with the WWL value of 81.67 respectively; 75.67; 71.33; 60.67; 63.33; 59.33; 72.33; and 69. The results of the analysis using a fishbone diagram show the root causes of the six factors caused by machine problems where only one forklift and plong machine facilities are available, man problems where age, experience, work share, and gender affect work ability, material problems. where components are mixed and cause long search times, method problems where the lifting system is still manual and impatient (concentration), as well as environmental problems including timely and maximum work demands as well as noise and other workers' disturbances. Solutions that can be suggested to reduce the mental workload level of component assembly workers are the addition of forklifts and plong machines, employee evaluation, use of ear PPE, as well as component layout and categorization arrangements. Keywords: mental workload, fishbone diagram, NASA-TLX, assembly workers.
