Abstract
Sick and hospitalized are a major crisis which appears in children. If a child is hospitalized, then the child will easily run into crisis because of stress due to changes in both the health status and environment. Playing also as an important element for the development of children's physical, emotional, mental and social as well as intellectual. Anxiety is confusion, fear of something that will happen with no apparent cause and feeling uncertain. Aim of the study: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship of playing therapy to anxiety levels in preschoolers. Methodology: This research used the analytic survey method with cross sectional approach. Then, it used Pearson Chi Square test. The samples in this study were 42 children. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Result of the study: The results showed that the analysis of univariate playing therapy was good 22 (52.4%), sufficient 8 (19.0%), and low 12 (28.6%). While the anxiety levels were minor anxiety was 16 (38.1%), medium anxiety was 14 (33.3%), and severe anxiety was 12 (28.6%). Bivariate analysis of test results used the Pearson chi-square statistic was obtained p value = 0.030, it showed that α <0.05. It means that there’s a significant relationship between playing therapy to the level of anxiety of preschoolers. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there’s a relationship between playing therapy to the level of anxiety of preschoolers. It is expected that the results of this study can be used as a source of information and as a reference to conduct playing therapy for children who have anxiety, especially presschoolers in overcoming of anxiousness.
