Abstract

Paper prayer is one of the means needed in prayer activities are often carried out by a Chinese community in tribute to their ancestors who have died. SMEs Aju Paper Prayer is one of the small industries engaged in the production of paper prayer. Many different types of prayer paper produced on these SMEs, one of which is paper prayer that requires the coupling process beforehand. In the paper production process of prayer in these SMEs are cutting work stations. In this cutting work stations there are problems that the cutting tool used is a chainsaw. Use of chainsaws working position bent, with hand saws swiping repeatedly and foot pressing on the paper with the help of a piece of wood there is no description of the lengths. This causes the bending working position and results of sloppy pieces of paper as well as the risk of leg injured by a chainsaw. Based on these problems required the design tool of prayer paper cutter that can improve the working position can also be safer and produce results scrap of paper neatly and be able to speed up the cutting process. Paper cutting tools prayer this design results in length 44,5cm, 67,5cm width and height 17cm. In this tool blade can be raised and lower the lever to make this tool more secure. The blade cut steel pieces of paper to make the results more immaculate and because of the amount of paper that can be cut more than the previous time cutting process becomes faster. Since it takes a systematic approach to designing cutting tools of this paper to fit the needs of SMEs, the method used in this research that a rational method. Once implemented, the productivity in SMEs is also increased by 0.76. In addition, the time required to cut 100 sheets of plain paper beginning initially had an average of 141.5 seconds after using this cutting tool into 121.6 seconds.
