Abstract

Background: Based on the level of knowledge of adolescent VIII grade SMP Negeri 26 Palembang about smoking from the overall result of the percentage shows that good respondents 64 (56,1%) more than 50 respondent (43,9%) with total 100%. The hazards caused by smoking can lead to a lot of toxins that enter the body and will result in disruption of health in smokers themselves, a person will experience shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, decreased ability to smell, loss of taste taste, premature aging On the skin, damage to hair, eyes and teeth. Objective: To know the description of the level of knowledge of adolescent class VIII in SMP Negeri 26 Palembang about smoking and danger to lung health. Method: The type of this research is quantitative descriptive involving 114 respondents, the number of respondents in this study was taken using purposive sampling method. Result: Univariate analysis got conclusion have knowledge level about good cigarette 64 (56,1%) more than 50 respondent (43,9%) with total 100%, it can be concluded result of adolescent knowledge level about good cigarette More in comparison with the level of knowledge of poor teenagers. About the dangers to lung health that do not know as much as 42 (36.8%), more than respondents who know as much as 72 (63.2%), it can be concluded from the overall results turned out about the dangers for lung health Know> who do not know the dangers to the health of the lungs. Conclusion: Outcome of the distribution of knowledge of adolescent less good as much as 50 (43,9%), good counted 64 (56,1%), Result of hazard distribution for lung health which do not know as much as 42 (36,8%), Know as much as 72 (63.2%). Suggestion: It is expected that the role of nurse as Educator to give education about knowledge about smoking and danger of smoking for lung health
