Abstract
Background: Pulmonary Tuberculosis is an infectious disease generated by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The incidences of pulmonary tuberculosis disease continuesly increase in number every year and some sufferers die because of this disease. Pulmonary tuberculosis can be transmitted through the air from infected individuals to the other individuals who are not infected by tuberculosis through droplets released while the infected individuals talking, sneezing, coughing, or singing, and these droplets are very susceptible to inhaling and affecting other healthy individuals. Research Purpose: This study aims to get the overview and information about how to treat and care the patients of pulmonary tuberculosis through phenomenology study based on the experiences of nurses who treat and care the patients of pulmonary tuberculosis. Method: This study uses qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The qualitative research aims to deeply explore the experiences of nurses when they were caring for pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Myria Hospital Palembang. In qualitative research, all the obtained data is analyzed with Colaizzi. Result: The results obtain five themes, namely: (1) the perceptions of nurses of pulmonary tuberculosis disease, (2) the feeling of nurses for caring the pulmonary tuberculosis patients, (3) The efforts of nurses to prevent or reject for caring the patients of pulmonary tuberculosis diseases, (4) the barriers obtained by nurses during treating the pulmonary tuberculosis patients, (5) the efforts to overcome the obstacles experienced by the nurses in treating patients with pulmonary tuberculosis disease. According to the result, we suggest to the hospital management, especially the management of internal medicine department, to provide a seminar ,course, or training about pulmonary tuberculosis disease or other infectious diseases to increase the knowledge of nurses
