This study aims to describe the mathematical ability of fifth-grade (VC) students at SDK Frater Xaverius 2 Palembang in solving word problems on the topics of Least Common Multiple (LCM) and Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) based on George Polya's problem-solving steps. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects of this study were 26 fifth-grade (VC) students at SDK Frater Xaverius 2 Palembang. Data collection techniques included documentation and a written essay test, which was validated beforehand by a fifth-grade elementary teacher expert, a mathematics expert, and an Indonesian language expert. Data analysis techniques utilized the Miles and Huberman model, where data analysis was conducted using researcher triangulation, involving analysis by a mathematics expert, the fifth-grade teacher, and the researcher directly involved in data collection. The results showed that the students' mathematical ability in solving word problems on LCM and GCD was dominated by the "fair" category, accounting for 13 students (50%), while 2 students (8%) were in the "good" category, 6 students (23%) in the "poor" category, and 5 students (19%) in the "very poor" category, with no students reaching the "very good" category. These results indicate that the majority of students are capable of solving mathematical word problems based on Polya's steps.
