Abstract

Background : Bullying is an aggressive behavior that can cause physical harm, violence, depression, and even mental health disorders among victims. Therefore, appropriate preventive efforts are necessary. One of the factors that may influence adolescents' behavior in preventing bullying is improving their knowledge about bullying. Objective : To determine the relationship between knowledge and bullying behavior among adolescents in Palembang. Methods : This study employed a quantitative research design using an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 177 eleventh-grade students at SMK Swakarya Palembang. A total of 161 respondents were selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires on bullying knowledge and bullying behavior. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Kendall's Tau-b test. Result : The majority of respondents were 17 years old, accounting for 86 respondents (53.4%), and most were female, with 92 respondents (57.1%). A total of 126 respondents (78.3%) had a good level of knowledge about bullying, while 123 respondents (76.4%) exhibited bullying behavior. The Kendall's Tau-b test showed a p-value of 0.614 (>0.05), indicating no statistically significant relationship between knowledge and bullying behavior. Conclusion : There was no significant relationship between knowledge and bullying behavior among adolescents in Palembang. Suggestion : Adolescents are encouraged to increase their awareness and practice positive behaviors to help prevent bullying.
