Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease characterized by blood pressure of ≥140/90 mmHg and is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. In addition to pharmacological treatment, non-pharmacological therapies such as warm water foot soaking with salt may help reduce blood pressure by promoting relaxation and improving blood circulation. Objective: To analyze the implementation of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) using warm water foot soaking with salt to reduce blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Methods: This descriptive case study used the nursing process approach involving three patients with hypertension. The intervention was administered once daily for 15–20 minutes over three consecutive days. Blood pressure was measured before and after each intervention. Results: The implementation results showed that all respondents (100%) experienced a reduction in blood pressure after receiving warm water foot hydrotherapy with the addition of salt for three consecutive days. Systolic blood pressure decreased by 6.8%–8.5%, while diastolic blood pressure decreased by 7.0%–16.3%. In addition, all respondents reported reduced complaints of dizziness and neck pain and demonstrated improved knowledge of hypertension management through the adoption of healthy lifestyle behaviors. Conclusion: Warm water foot soaking with salt for three consecutive days may help reduce blood pressure and improve comfort in patients with hypertension. This therapy can be used as a complementary non-pharmacological intervention for hypertension management. Suggestion: This therapy should be performed regularly alongside a healthy lifestyle and routine health check-ups. Keywords: Hypertension; Blood Pressure; Foot Soak.
