Abstract

Pagar Alam as a city of banjaran, which has a hilly area at the foot of Mount Dempo which is currently used as a famous tourist attraction with natural tea garden tourism. With the development of this natural tourism, apart from the increasing number of visitors and the utilization of natural potential, to support facilities, it is also necessary to accommodate accommodation, one of which is the planning of a cottage area. Where the design of this cottage can support the development of natural tourism objects in the Pagar Alam tea garden area, while still having ecological value for the surrounding environment. The planning of this cottage aims to provide accommodation facilities that support tourism activities in the Pagar Alam tea garden area, with the hope of increasing the number of tourists and extending the duration of their visits. The design of this cottage is based on the utilization of the natural potential of the hills which is translated through the concept of Slow Living. This concept is related to a lifestyle that emphasizes quality over quantity, by slowing everything down and appreciating the life that is owned including the nature they live in, where buildings are designed in harmony with the natural environment and adjusting to functions to improve the quality and quantity of life. The emphasis on the concept of slow living in the planning in building this cottage highlights vernacular architecture. Vernacular architecture is implemented by adopting the traditional roof typology of the Besemah community, which is generally pointed. This involves managing various external factors such as air circulation, temperature, and wind, which are achieved through the arrangement of building orientation, land use, and the use of vegetation. Overall, the role of nature in the planning of this cottage is very crucial, because the beauty and uniqueness of nature around the beach will be the main attraction for visitors to this tourist attraction.
