Abstract

An internship is an academic activity designed to provide students with hands-on experience in understanding the construction process in the field. This internship report discusses the supervision of ceiling and ceramic tile work on a two-story, 84/98 m² residential housing unit at PT. Prada Energi Indonesia, specifically on the Sriwijaya Garden Housing Project in Palembang. The discussion focuses on the installation of gypsum ceilings and granite tiles. Data was collected through literature review, field observations, interviews, and documentation during the internship. The results indicate that most of the ceiling and tile installation work on-site aligns with theoretical standards. However, there were several deviations in practice, such as the use of specific ceiling frame sizes, the use of hollow blocks as ceiling supports, painting work performed after tile installation, the failure to test tile patterns before installation, and the non-use of tile spacers. Nevertheless, the work can still produce a sufficiently good final quality if carried out with precision, supervision, and thorough planning. Through this internship, the author gained an understanding that on-site supervision plays a crucial role in ensuring that the work aligns with the working drawings, technical standards, schedule, and the quality of the construction results.
