Abstract
Background: Patients undergoing renal replacement therapy often experience a decline in physical and psychological well-being. The duration of hemodialysis and the level of adherence to fluid restrictions are two crucial factors that mutually influence a patient's clinical condition. Non-compliance with fluid requirements and prolonged therapy duration carry the risk of serious complications, which ultimately directly impact the quality of life of hemodialysis patients Objective: To determine the relationship between adherence to fluid restriction and duration of HD therapy on the quality of life of HD patients. Method: The researchers used a quantitative research approach with a correlational approach, with a population of CKD patients undergoing HD and a sample of 58 respondents, using a total sampling technique. Data were collected by distributing adherence questionnaires and the WHOQOL-Breef. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Kendall tau-b test. Results: There was no significant relationship between compliance with fluid intake restrictions and patient quality of life (p-value 0.712 > 0.05) or H0 Accepted, and no statistically significant relationship was found between the duration of hemodialysis (both groups ≤12 months and >12 months) and patient quality of life (p-value 0.071 > 0.05) or H01 accepted. Suggestion: Patients are advised to remain disciplined in limiting fluid intake. High adherence in this study was the key to preventing acute complications.
