Abstract

The design of a Play Therapy Center for Children with Emotional Disorders Using an Inclusive Architecture Approach in Palembang aims to create a place for children's emotional recovery and development through play activities. The background for this design is based on cases of lifestyle changes, violence, and parental divorce, as well as the increasing number of cases of children with emotional disorders, which has become a global problem, and the limited availability of therapy facilities in Palembang. The design method involved data collection through precedent studies, interviews, and literature studies, as well as site analysis and space requirements analysis, taking into account the principles of inclusive architecture. The design uses the theme of healing through inclusive play using a biological analogy approach based on the concept of child brain development, manifested through the shape of the building connected to a walkway. Each space was designed with consideration for children's psychological aspects, from color selection, use of natural lighting, and child-safe materials. The design results show that an inclusive architectural approach can support the play therapy process and create a comfortable and safe space to enhance children's self-confidence and encourage their emotional and social development.
