Abstract

Career anxiety is anxiety that arises due to uncertainty about future careers and intense job market competition. Career anixety among university students can be influenced by various factor, including self-efficacy and fear of failure. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and fear of failure with career anxiety among students in Palembang. The research employed a quantitative approach using a purposive sampling technique. The participants consisted of 120 active university students ages 18- 25 years who were enrolled in semester 2 to 8. The instruments used in this study were Career Anxiety Scale(CAS), General Self Efficacy Scale (GSES), dan Performance Failure Appraisal Inventory (PFAI). Data wre analyzed using spearman’s rho correlation test because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed a significant relationship between self-efficacy and career anxiety (p=0,00; r= 0,378), indicating a low level of correlation. In addition, there was a significant relationship between fear of failure and career anxiety (p=0,00; r= 0,810), indicating a very strong correlation. These findings suggest that fear of failure has a stronger relationship with career anxiety than self- efficacy. Therefore, the research hypothesis was accepted, indicating that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and fear of failure with career anxiety among university students in Palembang.
