Abstract

This research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective speed reading practice media through the Zep Quiz platform for sixth-grade students of SDK Frater Xaverius 2 Palembang. The background of this study is based on the low average reading speed of sixth-grade students at SDK Frater Xaverius 2 Palembang, which only reaches 134 KPM, far below the minimum standard of above 160 KPM. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) integrated with Tessmer formative evaluation. The results of the study indicate that the Zep Quiz media is declared very valid based on the assessment of material experts (97.5%), language experts (97.1%), and media experts (91.4%). This media has also proven to be practical and very effective. The results of the field test showed that the level of student engagement reached 100% and the majority of students were able to achieve the very effective category in understanding the text. Thus, the Zep Quiz media is suitable for use as a speed reading practice media in elementary schools.
