Abstract

This study aims to assess the financial literacy skills of Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students at Musi Charitas Catholic University (UKMC) Palembang who are ensnared by online loans and to identify the factors influencing their financial decisions. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with one primary informant and two colleagues as supporting informants, with source triangulation used to ensure data validity. The results indicate that the informants' conceptual understanding of finance is not fully reflected in their daily financial management practices. They still face obstacles in applying the principles of financial planning, controlling expenses, and evaluating the risks of digital lending services. Emotional factors, social pressure, and limited digital literacy also influence their decisions to use online loans. The study concluded that limited integration between financial knowledge, attitudes, and behavior contributes to students' involvement in online loans. Applied, ongoing, and contextual financial literacy education is needed to support the development of responsible financial behavior in prospective educators.
