Abstract

Architecture is the art of designing and constructing buildings based on five fundamental principles: safety, security, health, comfort, and convenience. These five principles served as essential guidelines in every planning and construction process. One of the most common types of buildings found in society is a shop house, which functions both as a commercial space and a residence. A shop house requires a strong and safe structure to support both business and residential activities, making the construction implementation and supervision processes crucial aspects to be considered. Through this internship, the writer gained insights and experiences in applying knowledge that had been learned during academic studies to real practice in the field. The main focus of this internship was on the implementation and supervision of footplate and sloof foundations as essential structural elements suppoting the shop house bulding. Data collection was carried out through several methods, including observation, interviews, and document studies. The results of this internship were expected to enhance the knowledge, understanding, and insights of both the writer and readers, also to serve as an additional reference.
