Abstract

Drug logistics management is a crucial component in hospital operations, where drug procurement costs can reach 40% to 50% of total hospital expenditure. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of drug logistics activities at Charitas Belitang Hospital and optimize inventory control to minimize the risk of financial losses and stockouts. The research method used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative through direct observation, interviews, and inventory data processing using a combined ABC-VEN matrix analysis. The results show that the logistics activity flow, from planning to distribution, has been running effectively. This is supported by a two-pillar work pattern with an overlapping schedule of five hours (09.00 - 14.10) which expedites the handling of critical tasks such as receiving goods in accordance with the principles of Good Distribution Practice (GDP). Based on the ABC-VEN analysis of 30 drug items, it was found that the top priority groups (AV, AE, VA) such as Albumin, Ringer Lactate, Insulin, and Ceftriaxone absorbed approximately 69.3% of the budget. The inventory control strategy was implemented by implementing the FIFO (First In First Out) and FEFO (First Expired First Out) systems, as well as data integration through the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS). The conclusions of this study confirm that the combination of human resource optimization, information technology, and ABC-VEN matrix analysis significantly improves the efficiency of the drug supply chain. It is recommended that hospitals implement strict controls through weekly stock audits of priority drugs and develop an early warning system feature in the SIMRS to provide automatic notifications when vital drug stocks reach the reorder point.
