Abstract

Background : Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) remains a growing global health problem, including among adolescents. Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to HIV transmission due to limited knowledge, high curiosity, and a tendency toward risky behaviors. Low levels of understanding about HIV and its prevention highlight the need for effective health education. Website-based video education can present HIV information in a structured, interactive, and low-distraction manner compared to social media. In addition, websites allow adolescents to access educational materials independently, flexibly, and repeatedly, which is expected to optimally improve their knowledge of HIV prevention. Objective : To determine the difference in knowledge levels before and after receiving HIV education through web-based video among adolescents. Methods : Quantitative research with a pre-experimental One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The population of this study consisted of 120 students of SMA Bina Mandiri. The sample was selected using a total sampling technique and limited by inclusion criteria. Data were collected using an HIV knowledge questionnaire through pretest and posttest, and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: The results showed an increase in adolescents’ knowledge levels after receiving HIV education through website-based video, with a p-value <0.001. Conclusion : There is a significant difference in knowledge levels before and after receiving HIV education through website-based video among adolescents. Suggestion : Schools and healthcare workers are encouraged to utilize website-based educational videos as a medium for HIV education. Future researchers are advised to use control groups or compare different types of educational media. Key Words : Adolescents, Education, HIV, Website
