Abstract

The Volans-type residence is one of the housing projects developed by PT. Bintang Agung Property in Palembang. Built on a land area of 200 m² with a building area of 150 m², it is designed in the Mid-Century Modern architectural style, emphasizing simplicity of form, functional efficiency, and connection with the surrounding environment. This internship report aims to describe the stages of planning and designing the residence under the direct guidance of company staff, while also providing hands-on experience in integrating architectural theory with real practice. The floor plan optimization includes repositioning the main entrance, adjusting bedroom layouts, modifying the staircase, and adding a walk-in closet. On the exterior, the design applies a hidden gable roof, wide openings, water line accents, and a harmonious combination of materials and colors that align with the Mid-Century Modern concept. The interior design is presented through three-dimensional visualization using natural materials such as WPC and SPC, complemented by functional custom furniture, with adjustments in lighting and rendering angles to create a realistic impression. The results of the internship show that the Volans-type house successfully embodies a modern, practical, and aesthetic design. The floor plan provides comfort and privacy, the exterior conveys elegance with a simple character, while the interior highlights warmth through the use of natural materials. Overall, this process offered valuable experience in understanding the stages of residential design and the application of architectural concepts within the property development industry.
