Abstract

Background: Breast health problems can occur in adolescence due to hormonal changes that can lead to FAM and breast cancer. BSE is an easy, inexpensive, and self-administered early detection method. One effort to increase adolescent knowledge about BSE is through health promotion using website-based video media, which is considered more engaging and accessible to adolescents. Objective: To determine differences in BSE knowledge before and after health promotion through web-based video media was provided to adolescent girls. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design with a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design approach. The study sample consisted of 46 respondents using a total sampling technique. Data collection used a BSE knowledge questionnaire, which was provided through health promotion through website-based video media. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate tests using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: 40 (87.0%) respondents' knowledge before receiving health promotion was in the low category. After receiving health promotion via web-based video, there was a significant increase in knowledge, with 44 (95.7%) respondents moving into the good category. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating a difference in BSE knowledge before and after receiving health promotion via web-based video among adolescent girls. Conclusion: There is a difference in BSE knowledge after receiving health promotion via web-based video among adolescent girls. Recommendation: Maintain an understanding of SADARI and be able to perform SADARI regularly every month.
