Abstract

Clean water and air quality are fundamental needs for human life and environmental sustainability. However, industrialization, rapid urbanization, and climate change have significantly worsened environmental pollution, particularly in Palembang City. Water pollution from waste and air pollution from emissions and forest fires have led to serious public health issues, including a rise in respiratory infections. Conventional monitoring methods are often inefficient due to limited area coverage and lack of real-time data. To address these challenges, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology emerges as an innovative solution that enables efficient and continuous environmental monitoring. This study proposes the development of an IoT-based monitoring system that integrates pH meter and MQ-7 sensors to simultaneously measure water and air quality. The system is designed to provide accurate, real-time data and can be implemented in various environmental conditions. With a case study focused on Palembang City, the proposed prototype is expected to contribute to smarter and more responsive environmental management.
