Abstract
Background: Play therapy is a non-pharmacological approach that effectively helps children understand their illness, such as gastroenteritis, while also reducing anxiety caused by discomfort, changes in routine, and the unfamiliar hospital environment. Through visual activities, children are given a safe space to express their emotions and thoughts, supporting the healing process. This makes play therapy a valuable non-pharmacological intervention that can be applied in hospital care, as it provides positive impacts for sick children who may feel alienated in the inpatient setting. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of implementing educational picture sticking play therapy in reducing anxiety levels in children with diarrhea. Methods: This study used a case study method that managed 3 preschool respondents who experienced diarrhea and anxiety care selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The intervention was given for 3 consecutive days for 20 minutes. Result: After implementing the Educational Sticker Picture Play Therapy to reduce anxiety in preschool children with diarrhea for three days, the results showed that the therapy was effective in reducing the children's anxiety. The average pre-intervention anxiety score was 2.89 (rounded to 3), categorized as mild to moderate anxiety, and the average post-intervention score was 2.22 (rounded to 2), categorized as mild anxiety. Suggestion: It is hoped that parents will be able to take part and support their children's activities to reduce feelings of discomfort and anxiety felt by their children.
