Abstract

Background: Patient safety is a primary concern in hospital services. The number of falls is a significant contributor to injuries among hospitalized patients, necessitating hospitals to evaluate patients' fall risk and take measures to reduce fall-related injuries. Families play a crucial role in preventing and avoiding fall risk incidents among patients; therefore, they need knowledge and skills regarding fall risk prevention. Objective: To analyze the difference in family knowledge about fall risk prevention before and after receiving health education. Method: This study is a quantitative research using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 60 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data collection tools included questionnaires and educational interventions. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The study results indicated a significant difference in knowledge levels before and after health education (p-value = 0.002). Recommendations: Future researchers are encouraged to continue this study by examining factors that may influence family knowledge.
