Abstract

The tendency for risk-taking decision-making is more prevalent during the transitional age from childhood to adolescence. This study aims to analyze the impact of the perception of father figure roles on self-esteem and risk-taking decision tendencies in early adolescents. The research employs a quantitative method with accidental sampling techniques, resulting in 156 respondents aged 12 to 15 years. Data collection utilized an adapted father figure role scale with a reliability of 0.987, the Coopersmith self-esteem scale with a reliability of 0.867, and a risk-taking decision tendency scale with a reliability of 0.918. Data analysis was performed using multivariate regression techniques. The findings indicate that the perception of father figure roles affects both self-esteem and risk-taking decision tendencies in adolescents, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The father figure role impacts self-esteem by 10.341% in a positive manner, meaning that higher father figure involvement is associated with higher self-esteem in adolescents. Conversely, the father figure role affects risk-taking decision tendencies by -0.491% in a negative manner, indicating that greater father figure involvement is associated with lower risk-taking tendencies. In conclusion, the father figure role impacts 21.341% of self-esteem formation and reduces risk-taking decisions by -0.491% in adolescents, with the remaining variance influenced by other variables.
