Abstract

Technological advances are increasingly sophisticated nowadays, making it easier for children, especially teenagers, to access. This can have an influence on teenagers' self-control. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between self-control and internet addiction in early adolescents. The sample in this research was students from Xaverius Maria Palembang Middle School, totaling 93 students. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. The research used is quantitative research and data collection techniques using questionnaires using Google Form media. The measuring instrument used is a scale of self-control and internet addiction with a Likert scale model. Before testing the hypothesis, a classic assumption test is carried out which includes: normality test and linearity test. The results of this research show a significance value of 0.05 and a Pearson Correlation of 0.273. The relationship between self-control and internet addiction has a significance value of 0.00 and the Pearson Correlation is -0.673 which has a negative value. This means that the higher self-control, the lower internet addiction, and vice versa.
