Abstract

ABSTRACT IDENTIFICATION OF POTENTIAL HAZARDS USING THE HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND RISK ASSESSMENT (HIRA) & JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS (JSA) METHOD ON THE TEMPE PRODUCTION LINE (Case study: UKM Tempe Komariah) UKM Tempe Komariah is a business engaged in producing tempeh made from soybeans. The production process at UKM Tempe Komariah consists of nine processes carried out including the process of sorting and weighing soybean raw materials, soybean washing process, soybean boiling process, soybean cooling process, soybean milling process, soybean drying process, yeast mixing process, soybean wrapping process, fermentation process. Businesses that have been running for a long time have never had an occupational health safety assessment before, there is no provision of PPE and workers' awareness of occupational health safety is not yet optimal. This research aims to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and provide recommendations for improving risk control using the HIRA and JSA methods. The results obtained were that there were 13 potential hazards with the low category totaling 2 potential hazards (17%), the medium category totaling 3 potential hazards (25%) and the high category totaling 7 potential hazards (58%). The recommendation for control carried out is administrative control, namely increasing workers' awareness of K3 through posters and appeals for the use of PPE, providing K3 signs in work areas that have potential dangers, and implementing SOPs related to procedures and monitoring the use of PPE periodically, and providing PPE. namely safety gloves, mask and safety shoes. After implementing the use of PPE, all risk levels dropped to low. Work accidents have decreased which has increased tempe productivity.
