Abstract
Background: Hemodialysis causes several symptoms, one of which is fatigue. The impact of fatigue can cause a condition of the body without energy, thus causing a lack of self-function, not focusing on doing work until sexual disturbances occur. Fatigue can be eliminated with pharmacological or non-pharmacological therapy. One of the effective non-pharmacological therapies in reducing fatigue levels is benson relaxation therapy. Benson relaxation therapy is a combination of deep breath relaxation techniques and positive word expressions that are spoken many times. Objectives: Methods: Quantitative research with a pre-experiment design model of pretest-posttest design without control group. The population was 90 respondents and a sample of 32 respondents using the quota sampling technique. The instrument used is a modified piper fatigue scale (PFS). Results: Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test, there was a significant difference in the level of fatigue before and after being given Benson relaxation therapy in patients undergoing hemodialysis with a p-value of 0.001. After being given Benson relaxation therapy in hemodialysis patients, there was a decrease in fatigue levels by 22 respondents with mild fatigue levels of 15 respondents and moderate fatigue levels of 7 respondents. Suggestion: Patients undergoing hemodialysis can apply Benson relaxation therapy as an effort to reduce fatigue levels.
