Abstract

Background : Childbirth is a process of removing the products conception (fetus and urine) that can survive into the world from womb through the birth canal. Sectio caesaria (SC) is a process birth of fetus through an incision in the abdominal wall (laparotomy) and uterine wall. Post sectio caesaria surgery patients have several complications, including pain in surgical area. The pain caused by sectio caesaria not only physiological pain from birththing, but also from incisions in the surgical area. One of non-pharmacological method that can reduce pain of post sectio caesaria patients is finger hold relaxation technique. Purpose : To determine the difference in pain levels before and after given finger hold relaxation therapy to post caesarean section patients. Method : This study used quantitative type of research with one group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique uses Accidental Sampling, the samples used 30 respondents. Data were taken by questionnaire. Data analysis was univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the wilcoxon test. Results : In univariate analysis, the average age of respondents was 27.83 years. The dominant respondents were primigravidas (66.7%). Pre-intervention pain was on a moderate scale (100%). Post-intervention pain was moderate pain (66.7%), mild pain (33.3%). In the bivariate analysis, the value obtained was (p<0.000) so that it could be concluded that there was a difference in the level of pain before and after given finger hold relaxation therapy in post caesarean section patients. Recommendation : It is hoped that post section caesarea patients can make the finger hold relaxation technique to reduce the pain.
